The International Symposium in Commemoration of the 5th Anniversary of the 2008 Wenchuan Earthquake – “Long Term Geo-Hazardand Risk Consequences of Areas Struck by High Magnitude Earthquakes” will be held during May 12 – 18, 2013 at Chengdu University of Technology in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China.
Within the theme of “Long Term Geo-Hazard and Risk Consequences of Areas Struck by High Magnitude Earthquakes”, the Symposium will focus on the following popular and difficult topics in this field: 1) the long-term impact of the earthquake and climate change on the geo-hazard risk; 2) surface processes and geo-hazards’ evolutionary mechanisms; 3) geo-hazards versus the society: process and impact; 4) geo-hazard risk assessment, advanced technology and methods in risk mapping ; 5) the geo-hazard prevention, monitoring and early warning. The Symposium will be a comprehensive display of the worldwide scientific achievements in these fields during the five years after the Wenchuan earthquake. It shall provide a forum for discussion among researchers and other professionals involved in studies of seismic landslides and disaster mitigation; as well as a venue to establish long lasting and productive partnership with participants.
We sincerely welcome all experts worldwide to join this Symposium.
